Name the activity, not only the game
A game can join platforms for co-op or casual activities while using a different pool for ranked play. Check the mode your group actually wants to play.
Shooters are the genre where crossplay matters most: matchmaking pools are huge and finding a fair lobby is faster when PC, PlayStation and Xbox players share servers. Below is every shooter in our database, sorted so the ones that support cross-platform play appear first. Keep in mind that many shooters let you disable crossplay with console-only players to avoid the aim advantage of mouse and keyboard.
Editorial guide
In a shooter, crossplay is not a promise that every player enters the same match in the same way. Competitive playlists may separate PC and console players, a console-only pool can still be crossplay, and a shared inventory does not prove that ranks or purchased content behave the same way. Check the mode and account path before building a squad.

A console-only pool is still crossplay when it joins PlayStation and Xbox. It is not the same claim as allowing PC players into that pool.
An account may make friends easier to find or carry cosmetics across devices. It can also keep rank, purchases or older progress under separate rules.
Each example comes from current developer or publisher support material. They are not a ranking; together they show why a generic “yes” is not enough to plan a multiplayer night.
Crossplay connects Xbox and PlayStation only. PC and console never face each other, while account content is shared and competitive rank/MMR remain separate.
Cross Play is enabled automatically, but competitive activities use separate console and PC pools. A console player who joins a PC fireteam enters the PC pool; Cross Save is a separate system.
Cross Platform Play can be toggled in settings. For Cross Platform Save, choose the primary account carefully: linking is permanent and the primary progress overrides linked secondary progress.
PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S can play together with Crossplay enabled by default. Progress follows the Embark ID, and disabling crossplay can make queues longer.

A growing majority of modern multiplayer shooters support crossplay, especially free-to-play titles that rely on a large shared player base. Older or single-player-focused shooters are the main exceptions.
Many shooters let you disable crossplay in the settings, usually to avoid being matched against mouse-and-keyboard players. The exact option varies per game and is listed on each game page.
